NLA gives tips on how to save money on bills

It is possible to save money on bills by carrying out a number of quick checks, according to the National Landlords Association.

As part of the Energy Saving Trust's annual campaign, the association has said that everyone in the UK should be looking to save energy and reduce their carbon emissions.

"Check the loft insulation. It should be insulated to a minimum depth of 270mm to stop heat loss through the ceiling. Cavity wall and floor insulation is just as important. Ensure both are properly insulated to stop heat escaping," said the checklist.

David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, added that with the rising cost of gas and electricity, tenants are increasingly choosing properties which are cheaper to heat as a way of looking to save money on bills.

Earlier this week, the Consumer Council for Water said that families could save money on bills by addressing the amount of water they use.
