More Scots have adopted a save me money attitude and looked to putting their spare cash towards investments, new research has shown.
Figures revealed by Fair Investment Company show that the average balance of funds and ISAs across the UK was £7,021, while Scottish investors have saved a mean of £10,757.
However, keen savers in Yorkshire and the Humber come at the top of the investment league, putting a massive £11,949 aside for a rainy day on average.
Traditionally affluent areas invested less, with Greater London and the South East saving six per cent and 20 per cent less than the national figure respectively.
Nick Scarrett, head of investment and pensions at Fair Investment Company, commented: "The majority of the investments were into ISAs, which is great, as an ISA is one of the most tax-efficient ways to save, but there are still so many people who are not taking advantage of their tax-free allowances."
Earlier this week, UK Sustainable Investment and Finance released a guide to encourage financial advisers to get involved with National Ethical Investment Week.
